Nordform vs SketchUp
Where a guided kit workflow sits next to general 3D modelling.
What each one does
Nordform begins with a brief and a configurable kit-house frame: describe what you want, inspect the concept in your browser, adjust dimensions, leave revision-bound notes and export concept files. SketchUp is general-purpose 3D modelling software used for architecture, interiors, set design, product design and manufacturing, available on desktop, on the web and on iPad, with its own .skp file format and a free web edition.
| Need | Nordform today | SketchUp |
|---|---|---|
| Start a kit-house concept | Guided template and browser preview | Free-form modelling from scratch or from a template |
| Free-form geometry | Supported parameters only | Any shape you can draw |
| Revisions and review | Immutable revisions, revision-bound notes and scoped expert review | Files and versions you manage yourself; extensions and cloud storage for sharing |
| Concept exports | DXF, IFC 4.3, STEP, PDF, CSV, GLB, STL and JSON concept files | .skp plus common 2D and 3D formats |
What Nordform does not do
Nordform generates only supported kit geometry from typed proposals and offers no general 3D editor. It has not demonstrated feature parity with SketchUp.
